Update - COVID-19
Niagara District Airport (NDA) remains open, 24 hours a day for airside access, as a critical and essential piece of infrastructure in the Niagara region. The terminal building at NDA is currently closed to access for the general public, while the airport and many of the business on-site remain open, with the terminal open airside for use by pilots, passengers and air personnel only.
Allied Aviation, our fixed base operator, has revised their hours to between 10 a.m.. to 3:30 p.m.., seven days a week, available on-call outside of those hours as well. Airport staff continue to be on-site daily between 6:00 a.m.. and 7:00 p.m.., Monday to Friday. Outside of those hours, we can be contacted at 905-684-8107.
Flight traffic to and from any international destinations has been temporarily suspended until July 21 by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) due to precautions to re-route all international entries to a federally designated group of large airports (eg. John C. Munro/Hamilton; Pearson International/Toronto). Exemptions for medevacs, delivery of essential goods (such as personal protective equipment), and emergency have been made, with additional exclusions based on individuals requests of CBSA.
A number of our onsite businesses – such as National Helicopters, the St. Catharines Flying Club and FlyGTA – have re-opened recently, or will be doing so in the coming weeks. Individuals looking to contact these businesses should do so directly to confirm that their staff can support your access to their services, and to ensure that you are following the appropriate health and safety related protocols mandated by Transport Canada upon entering their aircraft.
We consider the safety of our travelling public, tenants and staff to be of the utmost importance. We have taken a number of precautions and preventative measures to ensure the cleanliness and care of our facility, focused on high-touch surfaces, such as door handles, restrooms, seating and arm rests. At this time facemasks are NOT mandated for use in the terminal given the restricted access, however this is under regular review based on changing traffic patterns and public health guidelines.
Currently, National Helicopters has resumed operations on-site, FLYGTA has suspended all flight operations until Monday, July 13, the St. Catharines Flying Club has suspended operations until July 1.
The Government of Canada is closely monitoring the spread of COVID-19 in Canada and in other countries. To limit the spread of COVID-19, the Government of Canada advises that you avoid all non-essential travel outside of Canada until further notice.
